Food Pantries & Emergency Funds Benefit from Giving Tuesday
On Tuesday, December 1st a total of $4,840 was raised through YCCD’s first ever Giving Tuesday campaign. Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement that unleashes the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and their world. It was created in 2012 with a simple idea: a day to encourage people to do good. Over the past seven years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give and celebrate generosity.
Our Giving Tuesday campaign was focused on raising dollars to support campus food pantries and student emergency funds. Of the $4,840 raised, donors designated their gifts in the following manner: WCC Food Pantry – $827; WCC Dorothy Minges Emergency Fund – $675; Yuba College Dusty’s Food Pantry – $945; Yuba College Emergency Fund – $1,483; Lake Campus Food Pantry – $231; Colusa Center Food Pantry – $128; other programs – $552
While Giving Tuesday is over, the need is still there. So Giving Tuesday became Giving December and you can still make a gift to support your campus food pantry or emergency. GIVE HERE.
